Black-Eyed Susan Day The Perfect Time To Accessorize

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The excitement is building for the 141st running of the Preakness Stakes.

Tracey Leong reports there was a great turnout for Black-Eyed Susan Day.

What better place to have the ultimate girl's day out than at Pimlico Race Course? On Black-Eyed Susan day, it's also the perfect time to accessorize.

"The British get it. They have bad weather, but they have great hats. So we have beautiful weather today and great hats," one woman said.

"I just love it. Makes you feel very girly," another woman said.

The event isn't just for the ladies... "My beautiful wife wanted to come, and I wanted to support her," one man said.

From head to toe, it's all about making a statement.

"For this event, it's a new hat," one woman said.

For many women, they say it's now becoming a new annual tradition.

Black-Eyed Susan Day also celebrates women's health, raising money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

"I was just diagnosed in February 2015. So, almost finished the process," one woman said.

Friday's festivities kicked off a big weekend, with all the excitement building for Preakness on Saturday.
