Black Eyed Susan Day Kicks Off Preakness Weekend At Pimlico

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Fans filled Pimlico to start their two-day celebration for Preakness 2017 and celebrating Black Eyed Susan Day.

Black Eyed Susan Day is always a festive event at Pimlico. It's a tradition honoring women's health with a day at the tracks.

Trying their luck at the track, women from all over are enjoying the ultimate girls day out.

"The dresses, the drinks, the hats," says one Black Eyed Susan Day visitor.

These ladies know it's all about making a statement.

"How often do you get to wear a fabulous hat like this?" says another spectator.

Fabulous hats as far as they eye can see, attendees are dressing the part, from head to toe.

"I was looking forward to being here and the excitement and seeing the different hats," says another woman.

Baltimore at its finest -- where looking sharp also applies to the men.

"It's just what Baltimore is all about."

Even some kids are getting some style guidance at a young age. Black Eyed Susan day also celebrating women's health, raising money for the Susan G. Komen foundation.

"Just having a good time with the family, being out with the wife and mom, supporting them," says one man visiting Black Eyed Susan Day.

A classic Baltimore tradition, for folks to see and be seen.

Preakness is Saturday, but there are events all evening Friday.
