Bernie Sanders To Make Campaign Stop In Baltimore

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is planning a presidential campaign stop in Baltimore, where he'll tour Freddie Gray's neighborhood and meet with black leaders.

Sanders' campaign says he'll visit Baltimore on Tuesday. He's bringing his campaign to the home turf of one of his rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination: former Maryland governor and Baltimore mayor Martin O'Malley.

Sanders plans to take a walking tour of the Sandtown-Winchester neighborhood, where Gray lived. Gray died this spring of a spinal injury he suffered while in police custody, and the first of six police officers charged in his death is now on trial.

Sanders will also participate in a round-table discussion of issues affecting the black community. The Rev. Jamal Bryant, a prominent local pastor, will also take part.
