Batts Names New Deputy Police Commissioner

BALTIMORE, Md. (WJZ)—Police Commissioner Anthony W. Batts announced on Wednesday the appointment of Kevin Davis to the position of Deputy Police Commissioner, overseeing the Investigators and Intelligence Bureau.

Davis was the former Chief of Anne Arundel County Police Department.

"As one of my Deputy Police Commissioner's, I have no doubt he will bring the same level of commitment, energy and enthusiasm to his role here , that he has throughout his career," said Police Commissioner Anthony W. Batts. "I am excited about the opportunity to have such a talented and hard-working professional join with me in working to reduce violent crime across Baltimore."

Davis is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, and earned his Master's Degree from Johns Hopkins University.

The Baltimore Police Departments Investigations and Intelligence Bureau is responsible for overseeing the Operational Intelligence Section, Homicide Section, District Detective Section, Analytical Intelligence Section, Special Investigations Section, and the Crime Laboratory Section.

The appointment will be effective January 26, 2015.
