Barn Fire Near Thurmont Kills 4 Goats, Destroys Barn

THURMONT, Md. (AP) — A fire at a farm near Thurmont has destroyed a barn and killed four billy goats.

Frederick County Fire and Rescue Services Battalion Chief Kevin Fox tells the Frederick News-Post (http://bit.ly/2fUJ8Ml) the blaze began shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday at a barn on the property. The barn is estimated to be a total loss.

Charles and Kathy Baker, the couple who owns the farm, say they had moved most of their animals to another barn closer to the farm house two weeks earlier. However, four billy goats still died in the barn that caught fire.

All seven members of the family were home at the time of the fire. None were injured.

Officials are still investigating what caused the fire.
