Barn Fire In Cecil County Causes Major Damage

ELKTON, Md. (AP) -- Two large storage barns with thousands of bales of hay inside caught fire at the Fair Hill Natural Resource Management Area in Elkton.

Authorities say a park employee noticed the blaze on Saturday afternoon. Authorities say the two 50-by-100-foot pole barns contained thousands of hay bales, priced at roughly $100 each. The Office of the State Fire Marshal says the blaze caused roughly $750,000 worth of damage, and that the fire will likely burn for several days.

WBAL-AM reports that 75 firefighters from 10 departments, including departments in Delaware and Pennsylvania, helped fight the fire on Saturday.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation. No injuries have been reported.
