Baltimore's Ice Rink Returns In a New Location

BALTIMORE (WJZ)--The ice rink at the Inner Harbor was a smash hit last year, so organizers are bringing it back, but this year it has a new location.

WJZ's Gigi Barnett has more.

Last year's ice rink at Baltimore's McKeldin Square was a return to the Charm City of old.

"It was really neat to see and a lot of people last year were talking about how it was done years and years ago, every year, and I hope it keeps coming back," said Brandon Nicklas.

Consider this your wish granted.

This year the rink is bigger, now at 6,000 square-feet.

And it's in new location, at the top of the amphitheater between the pavilions.

"We had over 20,000 skaters last year, which was impressive, which means the city really embraced this.  Families wanted to come out by the droves," said Sarah St. Clair, Waterfront Partnership Dir. of Marketing.

The rink needs at least four inches of ice and ice making weather.

The rink is scheduled to open next weekend, but until then, it's work around the clock to create the perfect holiday ice rink.
