Baltimore Tree Trust Is Making Baltimore A Greener City

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Creating a greener city. The Baltimore Tree Trust is restoring our urban forest one tree at a time at Oriole Park. WJZ reporter Tracey Leong spoke with Tree Trusts's Executive Director Mark Conway for the 40th volunteer tree planting event. The organization started in 2011.

Tree Trust plants trees throughout the city to keep Baltimore green.

"The events really help bring green to our city and beautify out city, especially in some of the stadium areas. These two stadiums bring a lot of fans and we really want to show that Baltimore is beautiful. Trees help green the area and we want to help them make sure that it is beautiful," says Conway.

The Tree Trust partnered with the Maryland Stadium authority.

"They helped us come to this area and start to plant and figure out where best to put the trees,"' says Conway.

He says they choose locations for where to plant trees, based on need and where they see best-fit.

Tree Trust Volunteers planted 75 trees around Oriole Park on Saturday.
