Baltimore Symphony Orchestra CEO Moving To Utah Symphony

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's president and CEO Paul Meecham is moving to the same position with the Utah Symphony and Utah Opera.

The orchestra's Board of Directors announced Tuesday in a news release that Meecham will step down in June.

The board says Meecham will stay through the remainder of the season and host the 2016 League of American Orchestras conference in Baltimore in June.

BSO Board Chairperson Barbara Bozzuto says the board will start a global search for a new president and CEO immediately.

Orchestra officials say Meecham joined the orchestra in 2006 after a period of financial instability, and restored fiscal confidence with consecutive balanced budgets.  They say he has pursued innovative strategies to redefine the role of the American orchestra in the 21st century.
