Baltimore rapper 'LonnieDaGoat' killed in Cherry Hill shooting

BALTIMORE -- A popular Baltimore rapper who went by LonnieDaGoat was killed in a shooting earlier this week in Cherry Hill, WJZ has learned.

Police said officers responded Tuesday at 9 a.m. to the 2800 block of Bookert Drive for the report of an unresponsive man. There, they found Baltimore City medics on the scene who'd already pronounced the victim dead. Police did not immediately release the victim's name, but his mother identified him as Delon Bushrod Jr.

"My family is not good at the moment. We are not good," said his mother Kia Bushrod. "It's my only son. They just don't know what they did to us. Baltimore is so wicked."

It's still unclear when the 24-year-old rapper was shot, but Baltimore police got the call Tuesday morning and first responders found his body between row homes at a spot that's a popular short cut. People who live on Bookert Drive say they heard a single gunshot the night before.

Bushrod Jr. has millions of views on his YouTube channel. He also had a strong following among young people. Videos on social media showed him visiting and performing at Baltimore schools. In one post he said that's what motivated him and it's "...only right to be a positive image to the youth...".

His mother said she loves his music and will now have to watch videos and listen LonnieDaGoat tracks now that he's gone.

"Just angry that his life has been taken from us. We will truly miss him," said Bushrod. "Every single day is just going to feel crazy, not speaking to him at all."

Police have not officially identified Bushrod Jr. as the victim, but they are asking the public to step up and share information if they know who killed him.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 410-396-2100 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7Lockup.
