Baltimore Ranked One Of America's Poorest Cities

BALTIMORE, Md. (WJZ)—Charm City is America's 6th poorest city according to a report by CBS News.

The report gathers 33 of the nation's poorest cities from data compiled by a California-based online research group, findthebest.com.

The company used U.S. Census Bureau data which found the 50 largest American cities that had significantly higher income gaps between rich and poor when compared to the cities overall.

Data shows that of Baltimore's 621,445 total population, only 6.4% make over $150,000 a year.

Charm City is also dealing with a relatively high cost of living and a low job growth rate which has caused residents who were once getting by economically to fall below the poverty line.

The poorest city on that report-- Detroit, Michigan. Milwaukee and Philadelphia round out the top three.

Here are the 11 poorest cities.
