Baltimore Officer Pleads Guilty To Killing Puppy

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A Baltimore police officer charged with beating and choking his girlfriend's puppy and texting her a photo of the dog's body has pleaded guilty to aggravated animal cruelty.

Twenty-eight-year-old Alec Eugene Taylor of Silver Spring pleaded guilty to the felony in Montgomery County Circuit Court on Wednesday. He faces up to 3 years in jail and a $5,000 fine at sentencing Oct. 8. He had been suspended without pay from the police department.

County police say Taylor's girlfriend reported that he had killed Rocko, a 7-month-old Jack Russell terrier, on Feb. 26.
