Baltimore No Longer Under State Of Emergency
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Governor Larry Hogan has withdrawn the state of emergency in Baltimore City.
The state of emergency has been in effect since April 27.
"Last week, Maryland citizens and the entire nation watched as Baltimore was consumed by violence and tragedy," said Governor Hogan. "The effort to restore calm and order to Baltimore was incredible and I cannot thank the community leaders, first responders, and all the men and women in uniform enough for they work they did to make it happen. Today we are pleased to announce that the city and its residents can begin to heal and rebuild in a peaceful and safe environment."
This means that the National Guard, Maryland State Police and allied first responders will all be leaving over the course of next week.
