Baltimore Man Arrested For Bring Loaded Gun To BWI Checkpoint

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A Baltimore man was arrested Friday afternoon after Transportation Security Administration caught the man trying to sneak a gun past security at Baltimore-Washington International-Thurgood Marshal Airport.

Officers detected the loaded 9mm handgun in the man's carry-on items as he was passing through security.

The serial number had been filed off.

TSA officers contacted Maryland Transportation Authority police who responded, confiscated the firearm and arrested the man on weapons charges.

Passengers who bring firearms to the checkpoint are subject to criminal charges from law enforcement and civil penalties from TSA up to $11,000.

Firearms, firearm parts and ammunition—are not permitted in carry-on bags, but can be transported in checked bags if they are unloaded, properly packed and declared to the airline.
