Baltimore Man, 23, Pleads Guilty To Robbery Spree
BALTIMORE, Md. (WJZ) -- A Baltimore man suspected of holding up three businesses in a robbery spree stretching just over an hour last March pled guilty Wednesday to a list of robbery charges, according to the Justice Department.
Carlos Rodgers, 23, of Saint Ambrose Avenue, entered guilty pleas to three counts of robbery in connection with the spree as part of a plea deal reached by his attorney and prosecutors.
Rodgers walked into a convenience store on 41st Street after 11 p.m. on March 14, 2015, pointing an object that appeared to be a gun at the clerk behind the counter and demanding money, according to his plea deal. He got away with some cash.
Minutes later, Rodgers acknowledged, he held up another convenience store on Falls Road by placing what appeared to be a handgun on the counter and again demanding money. He grabbed some money from two registers along with some cigarettes before taking off.
A third robbery at a 36th Street restaurant after midnight was apparently thwarted when Rodgers pointed a handgun at a register and started rounding the front counter. That's when another employee armed with a large kitchen knife confronted him and he ran off.
Investigators, using matching descriptions provided by the victims, later captured Rodgers. He faces up to 20 years in prison for each count when he's sentenced on Aug. 18.
