Baltimore Humane Society To Compete In Fundraising Tournament

REISTERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- The Baltimore Humane Society has been selected to compete against dozens of other shelters from across the country for a portion of $10,000.

The shelter will compete in the second annual Tournament of Tails, an online fundraising competition that presents pet "match-ups," allowing viewers to vote on which pets move to the next round based on pictures and descriptions.

Baltimore Humane Society says it has selected a 5-year-old cat named Mindy as its champion for the tournament.

Each participating pet will earn a minimum of $100 for their shelter, and animals that move to the final rounds of the tournament can earn up to $500. The winning pet for the championship match-up will earn $5,000.
