Baltimore Foodies, Rejoice: 'Light Up Lexington' Is Back!

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Food fans in Baltimore had a chance to do some culinary exploration on Wednesday. "Light Up Lexington" was back at the Lexington Market.

Amy Yensi has more on the food and fun.

A vendor-chef collaboration that promises to delight Baltimore foodies, "Light Up Lexington" was back on Wednesday! The event paired Lexington Market vendors with chefs from restaurants throughout Baltimore to create unique dishes.

"When the chef and the vendor get together, it's something created that you will not even get on either menu," said Darlen Hudson, Lexington Market.

The food showcase put a spin on traditional cuisines from across the globe.

"Especially for Indian cuisine, people who have not tried it before are always skeptical until they see how good it is," said Simon Pierre-Louis, Mem Sahib Restaurant.

Organizers say the point of the event was to attract the night-time crowd and to bring people to the market who ordinarily wouldn't visit.

"We're doing this to show them that, you know, we have great food here and it's a great place to be and enjoy yourself," said Steve Cho, Sausage Master.

From savory sausages to sweet Korean shaved ice... "This event would help the community out a lot," said Sidney Bond. "People that come to Lexington Market, make Lexington Market."

And with something on the menu to please every palette, the market hopes to keep the people coming back.

If you missed the free event, but still want to check out the Lexington Market, it features over 100 vendors with foods from several different countries.
