Baltimore Customs and Border Protection Arrests Violent Man

BALTIMORE, Md. (CBS) - The Baltimore Customs and Border Protection arrested a man Tuesday who was wanted by the Prince George's County Police for second degree assault as he was trying to flee the country.

Police say Davanon Anthony Hopkins, of Hyattsville, Md., a Jamaican citizen, was scheduled to leave the country for Jamaica when he was stopped by CBP officers.

After verifying his identity, Hopkins was arrested and turned over to Maryland Transportation Authority Police for extradition.

The CBP has placed an immigration detainer on Hopkins, who is a U.S. permanent resident, ensuring that he is returned to CBP before attempting to leave the country in the future.
