Baltimore courthouse temporarily closed following evacuation caused by outside fire

CBS News Baltimore

BALTIMORE -- The Clarence M. Mitchell Jr. Courthouse in Baltimore City was evacuated Tuesday morning because of a fire outside the courthouse.  The courthouse will remain closed for the rest of the day, officials said.

Baltimore City Fire Union said some of the smoke came into the building, on N. Calvert Street, so firefighters used fans to get rid of the smoke.

The Baltimore City Fire Department contained the fire, without visible damage to the courthouse, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Officials said the courthouse will remain closed for the rest of the day.
