Baltimore County Police Investigating After Officer's Vehicle Shot

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- Baltimore County police reported that there were shots fired at several cars in Sparks, Maryland Thursday.

Including an undercover cop cruiser, four cars were shot on a busy road in Baltimore County, one woman said it's a miracle she nor her daughter were hurt.

Spokesperson Sean Vinson says the call came in before 2 p.m. of a woman hearing a gunshot at York and Phoenix Roads.

"When I got confirmation that that was what had happened we were scared to death," Tami Principio said.

Principio said she was driving along Phoenix Road near York Road with her 12-year-old daughter in the passenger seat when she heard the initial crack of the glass.

She pulled into a parking lot and waited for police, only for them to be called away.

"When they came out I was giving them my report when the second call came in that there was another vehicle that had been shot at," she said.

And it wouldn't be the last one.

"There was a plain clothes policemen in an unmarked vehicle, and they decided that he just take a run down and see, and I'll be darned if they didn't try and shot at him," she said.

Authorities don't believe police were the targets.

"We had several officers in the area including our tactical officers, our K9 officers searching a wooded area around Phoenix Road," Vinson said.

Sky Eye Chopper 13 was over the scene as police shut the road down.

Police said the area is favored by hunters, but believe the cars were shot intentionally.

"Couldn't be more full of gratitude this afternoon. Just the fact that neither one of us were hit, that it went into the rear window and not the front. That nobody else was hurt today," Principio said.

No injuries or suspects were reported.

Detectives are continuing to investigate.
