Baltimore County Adopts Post-Labor Day Start Calendar

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- After debating the merits of two plans, the Board of Education of Baltimore County voted Wednesday night to adopt a calendar for the 2017-2018 school year that begins after Labor Day.

The school year will end on Friday, June 15, 2018.

Other changes to the school calendar include that spring break will be shortened from a week to a four-day weekend, with schools closed from Friday, March 30 through Monday, April 2, 2018.

In August, Gov. Larry Hogan signed an Executive Order mandating that classes at Maryland schools not only begin after Labor Day, but also end no later than June 15.
