Baltimore City Officer Charged With Perjury, Misconduct

BALTIMORE (WJZ) --  A Baltimore city police officer was charged with perjury and misconduct Thursday.

According to the Baltimore City States Attorney's office, Off. Steven Slack was charged today by way of criminal information with perjury and two counts of misconduct.

The allegations stem from an arrest in January 2013. Covert officers called for an arrest team after noting a hand-to-hand narcotics transaction and when Slack arrived her arrested an individual.

Slack wrote and signed a Statement of Probable Cause saying the individual was observed buying drugs by officers, but the covert officers said Slack arrested the wrong person.

The states attorney's office said a criminal information is not a finding of guilt, and a person is innocent until proven guilty.
