Baltimore City Hall To Be Illuminated For Autism Awarness Month

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Baltimore City Hall will join landmarks like Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, the Suez Canal in Egypt and One World Trade Center in New York City in recognizing Autism Awareness Month.

All of those structures and many others across the globe will participate in "Light It Up Blue," an international campaign launched by the advocacy group Autism Speaks.

The developmental disorder affects as many at 1 in 68 children in the U.S. and 1 in 60 in Maryland.

City Hall will be illuminated Friday night, according to Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.
