Baltimore Book Festival Celebrates 20th Anniversary This Weekend

BALTIMORE (WJZ) – The Baltimore Book Festival is now in its 20th year, and the tents are already up at the Inner Harbor.

WJZ's Ron Matz has more.

"We have so much going on this year," said Megan Bosse of the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts. "It's our 20th year and probably our biggest year. We have two new stages, including a health and wellness stage. We also have a new Inner Harbor stage presented by Towson University."

This year, one of the main focuses at the festival is food.

Celebrity cookbook authors, including Brian Voltaggio, will be doing cooking demonstrations and giving out samples.

"We have a lot of Baltimore based authors, including Wes Moore and Laura Lippman," Bosse said.

The festival will host 275 authors on 13 stages. It will also have live music and 85 exhibitors and booksellers.

"If you want to feast on thought provoking and inspiring author presentations, as well as lobster rolls, craft beer, wine and crepes, then visit the Baltimore Book Festival," said Kathy Hornig, director of festivals for the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts.

The festival will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. tonight through Sunday.
