Authorities Warn About Phone Scam In Anne Arundel Co.

ANNAPOLIS (WJZ)—Authorities in Anne Arundel County are warning the public about a recent phone scam in which the caller identifies himself as someone from the sheriff's office.

Authorities say the person using the number (410) 463-4010 identifies himself as Lieutenant Greg Allen from the Sheriff's Office.

The individual then references the call pertains to a "courthouse", "jury", or grand jury" matter.

Authorities want to remind residents that this individual is not affiliated with the Anne Arundel County Sheriff's Office. They add, utility companies, reputable companies and government agencies will never contact you demanding immediate payment, especially via Green Dot MoneyPak Cards or Western Union.

Residents are urged to call police at (410) 222-8610 if they have any information.
