Authorities Discover Explosive Device Being Built By Juvenile

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal reports a bomb squad was called to a Maryland home after authorities got a tip that a juvenile was building an explosive device to mail to someone else.

The Carroll County Sheriff's Office went out to the 2100 block of Knight Squire Dr. in Mt. Airy, just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

The sheriff's office was told that someone had built an explosive device that they were going to mail to someone else to hurt them.

A K9 was called to the scene to search the home, and authorities found a device in a closet, but authorities found that the juvenile had just started building it, and it had no explosive material inside.

The State Fire Marshal's Office reports no arrests were made.

No further details have been released at this time.
