Around 1.8K Cooking Fires Reported On Thanksgiving Each Year, CPSC Says

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A lot of cooking is underway for Thanksgiving, but a lot of accidents also happen as well.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said there are around 1,800 cooking fires on this day every year. Three times more than any other day.

The CPSC reminds everyone to not leave the stove unattended, keep kids at a safe distance and turn pan handles to the back of the stove to prevent accidental spills.

Also, fry the turkey far from your house, they said.
