Army Specialist Sentenced For Stealing Drugs From Hospital

GREENBELT, Md. (AP) -- A former Army pharmacy specialist who pleaded guilty to stealing drugs from a military hospital has been sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Thirty-five-year-old Lamelle Marquez Malone of Las Vegas, Nevada, was also ordered to pay more than $2 million in restitution at sentencing Wednesday in federal court in Greenbelt, Maryland.

Malone, who formerly lived in Columbia, Maryland, Somatropin, a form of human growth hormone, from the pharmacy at the former Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a news release.

Prosecutors say Malone took the stolen Somatropin to his home and sold it to a conspirator.
