Armed Robbery Pursuit Ends In Police Shooting

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Prince George's County Police say a pursuit after a liquor store robbery in Forestville ended in a crash and officer-involved shooting in northeast Washington.

Police say two people walked into the store on Walters Lane and demanded cash while holding an employee at gunpoint. The employee complied and the suspects fled in a minivan.

When the driver refused to stop for police, officers pursued the minivan into northeast Washington, where the van crashed. During a confrontation with the suspects, police say an officer fired his gun and an armed suspect was hit. But police say it's not clear whether he shot himself or was hit by a bullet the officer fired.

The wounded suspect was taken to a hospital and the second is in custody, awaiting extradition to Maryland.
