Wet weather returns to Maryland during the workweek

Temperatures are tumbling across Maryland this evening, under a mix of stars and clouds. Another cold night is in the forecast. Areas of frost are possible early Monday morning.

The workweek begins cool and dry

Clouds will continue to stream overhead tonight and early Monday morning.

Temperatures tumble through the 50s and into the 40s by mid-evening in many communities. Temperatures bottom out in the upper 30s and lower 40s around the Baltimore metro, away from the bay. Temperatures will settle into the mid-40s early Monday morning right on the water.

A few spots will briefly dip into the low and mid-30s, like the past few mornings.

Monday features a mix of sun and clouds as temperatures warm into the mid and upper 50s by noon... peaking in the upper 50s and lower 60s by 4 p.m. It'll be cloudiest south of Route 50 through the afternoon. Monday evening temperatures dip back into the 40s and 50s by 10 p.m. with dry weather sticking around.

Wet, breezy weather impacts Maryland mid-week

Two storm systems will impact the region this workweek.

The first passes south of central Maryland Tuesday. Clouds will increase through Tuesday across the state. The chance of steady light rain is greatest near the Potomac River and at the mouth of the bay. However, light rain could spread northward heading into early evening; possibly north of Route 50. Rainfall will be light. The chance of getting any rain diminishes the farther north you go. Temperatures remain in the 50s through the day in many spots, with more clouds around.

The second storm system approaches Maryland later on Wednesday. Temperatures remain in the 50s on Wednesday.  Rain is forecast to sweep in from the south by early evening. The commute home from work could feature some wet roadways. Rain becomes steady Wednesday night and lingers into, at least, Thursday morning. Brief heavy rain and breezy winds are possible.

Widespread 1" to 2" of rain is a good bet by the time rain ends midday Thursday.

The Halloween weather forecast looks drier in Maryland

The mid-week storm system pulls away from Maryland by Friday. Right now, it looks like Halloween will feature cooler temperatures, breezy winds and a mostly dry forecast. A few showers are still possible, especially across western Maryland and southern Pennsylvania. The forecast trends drier and remains cool heading into the first weekend of November.

Of course the WJZ First Alert Weather Team will keep you updated as the workweek forecast evolves.

Have a great week,

Cutter
