Anne Arundel Medical Center To Get Cardiac Surgery Program

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) -- Anne Arundel Medical Center is hoping to bring a cardiac surgery program to Anne Arundel County. AAMC is collaborating with Johns Hopkins.

Anne Arundel County is the largest county in Maryland without a cardiac surgery program.

Hundreds of patients have to be transferred to other hospitals for cardiovascular surgeries.

They have filed a Certificate of Need application, which must be approved by the Maryland Health Care Commission. There's no word on how long that could take.
