Anne Arundel County Creek Closed After Wastewater Spill

ARNOLD, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County health officials have ordered the closing of Mill Creek and Dividing Creek in Arnold after a spill of some 312,000 gallons of wastewater.

The Department of Health warned against direct water contact in the two creeks on Wednesday after Tuesday night's spill.

Officials say the spill was caused by a power outage during heavy rains. The overflow occurred at the Mill Creek Pump Station.

The facility is undergoing an upgrade, including the pump station's mechanical and electrical infrastructure. The $9.6 million project is expected to be completed in December.
