Anne Arundel Co. Schools Makes Changes To 2017 Calendar Per Hogan Executive Order

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A change is coming for students in Anne Arundel County. Next school year will start after labor day, but in order to do so that means shorter breaks.

The county board of education voted on Wednesday to trim spring break, cut the number of bad weather days built into the calendar, remove one vacation day from Christmas and extend the end of school year into the summer.

It's in response to governor Larry Hogan's executive order mandating schools begin after Labor Day.
