Annapolis Man Arrested In Police Officer's Shooting

ARNOLD, Md. (AP) -- An Annapolis man has been arrested in the shooting of a police officer who's fighting for his life.

Anne Arundel County Police say 30-year-old Colvin Lamar White was arrested Friday and charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, and weapons and robbery charges. No attorney is listed for White in online court records. He's being held without bond.

Police Lt. T.J. Smith says the shooting happened early Friday near a 7-Eleven along College Parkway in the Arnold area. Smith says the officer approached a man who was reportedly acting suspicious. Smith says some type of altercation ensued, and the man fled.

The officer gave chase, after which witnesses report hearing at least one gunshot. The officer, whose name was not released was taken to Baltimore's Shock Trauma Center in critical condition.
