Animal Control Releases Stephanie, The Feral Cat That Closed An Elementary School

HARWOOD, Md. (WJZ) -- The feral cat that caused Richard Henry Lee Elementary School to close for a day is on the move again.

The cat was discovered last Friday morning, but disappeared before Animal Control officers were able to catch it.

Over the Labor Day weekend, motion sensors and traps were placed to hopefully catch the animal before school started up again.

Two teachers spotted the frightened feline in a supplies closet on Tuesday and Animal Control officers were able to catch it.

The cat that has been named Stephanie was transported to Animal Control headquarters and has been receiving evaluations on a regular basis.

Stephanie is now being moved to Rude Ranch Animal Rescue's sanctuary, where she will finish her quarantine and receive medical care as well as vaccinations.
