Amtrak & MARC Restore Service Between D.C. & Baltimore After Downed Wires

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Amtrak and MARC's Penn Line have resumed full service between Baltimore and Washington, D.C., after downed wires caused travel to be suspended.

Amtrak said in an email late Thursday that service had been restored and repairs made to overhead wires near Bowie. Friday's morning rush is not expected to be affected.

Service was suspended about 9:30 a.m. Thursday. Officials believe an Amtrak train pulled down wires near the station in Bowie.

About a dozen Amtrak trains carrying more than 1,500 passengers were affected.
