Temperatures cool, storms fall apart across Maryland Sunday Evening

Extreme heat resumes this week in Maryland

Rain and storms cooled temperatures across much of the state Sunday evening, following earlier heat index temperatures well over 100° in many areas. The forecast continues to gradually dry out as temperatures cool through the evening. It'll remain muggy.

Intense heat continues in Baltimore through mid-week

The workweek begins on a drier note, with more hot weather in the forecast.

Only very spotty rain is expected Monday afternoon, with temperatures warming into the low and mid-90s across central Maryland. The air will be just a bit drier Monday afternoon and evening. It'll still feel like it's closer to 100°, but not in the 105° to 108° range like we felt on Sunday.

It gets hotter Tuesday, into Wednesday. Actual temperatures soar into the mid and upper 90s. It'll feel like it's well over 100°, with more humidity in the air. The forecast remains mostly dry Tuesday, but a few showers and storms are possible Wednesday ahead of a front and big change in our local weather. Alert Days are possible on Tuesday and Wednesday, with heat index temperatures soaring well over 100° again.

Much cooler weather is in Maryland's forecast later this week

A midweek front fires off more storms on Wednesday and Thursday. A few storms could become strong and produce heavy rain. Behind the wet weather, much cooler conditions arrive. Plan on cooler-than-normal afternoons, low humidity and a dry forecast Friday on into next weekend. Afternoon temperatures remain in the low to mid-80s. The weather will be perfect to get outside!
