Accident In S.C. Leaves 3 Children, Woman From Md. Dead

YEMASSE, S.C., (WJZ) -- An accident along I-95 in South Carolina has left three young children and a woman from Maryland dead.

Police say the four victims were in the backseat of a Ford Taurus, when it was struck by a tractor trailer early Friday morning. The impact sent both vehicles off the road.

The children were siblings, according to our media partner, The Baltimore Sun. It's not clear the woman's relationship to them.

Police say the truck crushed the car and drove on top of it.

The driver had to be cut out. She is now in critical condition.

A man in the front passenger seat was helped out of the car.

The driver of the truck suffered only minor injuries.
