95-year-old Bethesda Woman Dies While Crossing The Street

BETHESDA, Md. (AP) -- A 95-year-old woman has been killed after being struck by a car while crossing the street.

Montgomery County police say that Margaret McDowell Wydro was crossing an intersection Wednesday evening when a 30-year-old driver from Washington hit her. Wydro was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wydro's son, Bill Wydro, says his mother was on her way to go bowling. He says his mother was active and able to take care of herself.

A police accident reconstruction team is investigating and trying to determine whether the victim was using the crosswalk and if the light was in her favor.

Police have not said whether the driver will be charged for the collision.
