9 Suspects Arrested In Connection With Frederick Heroin Ring

FREDERICK, Md. (WJZ) --  Police launched a large criminal investigation in Frederick County after an increase in opiate related overdoses.

Using undercover investigations and surveillance, investigators discovered a group of suspects using and distributing large quantities of heroin and fentanyl.

A month long investigation lead to a search of the criminal organization, and resulted in the seizure of heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, crack cocaine, various prescription narcotics, about $4,500 in cash, 18 firearms and 4 motor vehicles.

On June 10, a grand jury indicted eight of the suspects for various drug related crimes. 24-year-old Colby Lewis, 56-year-old Ronald Dinges, 27-year-old Alexandra Kastner, 23-year-old Alante Williams, 27-year-old Deandre Coplin, 26-year-old Jocelyn Appleby and 35-year-old Brett Carpenter all face charges that range from distribution to possession. 32-year old Lauren Gardner was charged in May in connection with the investigation.

Alexandrea Kasttner is currently wanted by the police in connection with the investigation.
