4th Person Charged In Fatal Shooting In Montgomery Village

MONTGOMERY VILLAGE, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County Police have charged a fourth person in a fatal shooting in what they say was a gang-related crime.

On Nov. 2, the body of 22-year-old Roberto Gutierrez Cruz of Montgomery Village was spotted by a passer-by in a wooded area near Lakeforest Mall. Authorities declared him dead at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.

Three young men were charged with first-degree murder in Cruz's death.

Police said in a news release on Monday that 18-year-old Edwin Reyes-Martinez of Gaithersburg has been charged with being an accessory after the fact. Detectives say Reyes-Martinez hid the gun used in the slaying after the shooting.

Officers say Reyes-Martinez was 17 when the crime was committed; he is charged as an adult.
