Md. Woman Held Without Bail In Christmas Eve Slaying

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A 19-year-old New York woman will be held without bail on charges of first- and second-degree murder stemming from the fatal shooting of a Hagerstown woman whose body was found on Christmas Eve along U.S. 40 west of Frederick.

The Frederick News-Post reports that Neajee Terry had a bail review Monday afternoon. She was brought back to Frederick Thursday after surrendering to New York City police.

She's accused of killing 20-year-old Malicia Smith of Hagerstown.

Hagerstown resident Curtis Evans is charged as an accessory after the fact. He told police Terry shot Smith after telling him to stop their rented car so she could check a broken mud flap.

Terry's attorney disputed the allegations and sought to have her released to the custody of an aunt.
