4-Year-Old Child Shot In Rosedale, Expected To Survive

ROSEDALE, Md. (WJZ) — Baltimore County Police are investigating a shooting involving a four-year-old who was shot at least once in the lower body.

Baltimore County Police said that the incident happened inside of the child's house while a parent was home at the time.

Police said that the incident happened around 2 p.m. on Tuesday in the unit block of Cartwright Court in Rosedale.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are still under investigation, according to police.

Neighbors told WJZ that they came home and were shocked to see crime scene tape blocking off the family's home.

"Nothing like that ever happened before in this neighborhood," Oyewle Onitju, a neighbor, said.

Police said the child was first taken to Franklin Square Hospital and then transferred to Johns Hopkins Children's Center for injuries.

The family of the child told WJZ that the boy lost a lot of blood and went into surgery.

Neighbors said that they are praying for a quick recovery.

"I hope he's okay," a neighbor told WJZ. "I really do. I'll keep him in prayers."

There is no update on the child's condition at this time.
