4 GOP Hopefuls Headline Basque Fry Barbecue On Nevada Ranch

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. (AP) -- Nevada is taking a cue from events in other early voting states with a Basque-themed barbecue featuring four Republican presidential hopefuls and hundreds of voters.

Candidates Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina, Ted Cruz and Scott Walker rallied a crowd of about 1,500 people Saturday on a ranch in rural Gardnerville. The event is being hosted by Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt. His grandfather, former Sen. Paul Laxalt, held similar events in Washington.

Nevada's caucuses come after primaries and caucuses in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. Nevada moved up in the nominating order in 2008 and has since become a popular stop for candidates hoping to score the first win in a Western state.
