3rd Baby Bald Eagle Hatches In Washington

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Another baby bald eagle has emerged from its shell in Washington.

The Washington Post reports that one of two eaglets at the D.C. police academy hatched this weekend.

It's the third baby bald eagle to hatch in Washington this spring. Two eaglets were born to another pair of parents last week at the U.S. National Arboretum. It was the first time since the 1940s that bald eagles have nested at the arboretum.

One more baby eagle is set to hatch at the police academy and viewers can watch it live. A camera has been set up on the eagle nest.

Wildlife officials say the eaglet's parents, Liberty and Justice, have built a nest in an oak tree on police academy's property for 11 years.
