3 Hurt At Six Flags America As Park Lets Out

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP/WJZ) -- A fire department spokesman says three people were injured at Six Flags America during the first night of its Halloween event, Fright Fest.

Prince George's County fire spokesman Mark Brady says officials were called in to handle a large crowd leaving the park around 10 p.m. Saturday. Brady says a large group of patrons were exiting the park at the same time and something happened resulting in injuries to three teens. Brady says all the injuries were considered non-life-threatening, though two teens were taken to a hospital.

A Six Flags America spokeswoman says one guest was injured during a fight in the parking lot. A statement from the spokeswoman did not mention any other injuries.

Six Flags issued another statement to WJZ Monday afternoon:

"The safety and security of our guests is always our number one priority. The unacceptable events that took place Saturday evening represent an isolated incident. Patrons visiting the park the following day were able to enjoy our typical, fun-filled, Halloween experience.

Steps are being taken to increase security by working closely with local law enforcement; increasing the number of dedicated security personnel within the park, in the parking lot as well as along Central Avenue; and continuing to enforce a zero tolerance policy for anyone violating our published code of conduct."

Fright Fest began Saturday and continues every weekend until Nov. 2.
