3 Firefighters Hurt In Charles Co. Fire

WALDORF, Md. (AP) -- Fire officials say three firefighters were injured while battling a blaze at a Charles County home.

Crews were called to a vacant home on Billingsley Road in Waldorf after people driving by the home saw it engulfed in flames early Monday.

Waldorf Volunteer Fire Chief J.R. Hayden says two firefighters were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. He says one had burns and the other had contusions to his leg, but both are now recovering at home. A third firefighter was treated at the scene for minor burns.

Hayden says the unoccupied home was a total loss.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
