3 Family Members Dead, 1 Injured After Bethesda Accident

BETHESDA, Md. (WJZ/AP) -- Three family members have died and a fourth has life-threatening injuries after a two-car accident in Bethesda.

The Montgomery County Police Department the accident happened just before 7 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of River Road and Pyle Road.

The driver of a Chevrolet Volt attempted to turn left onto Pyle Road and collided with a BMW that was traveling on River Road.

A family of four was in the Volt and three of them -- the mother, father and a 17-year-old boy -- died at the scene. The other passenger, believed to be a teenage girl, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The 20-year-old driver of the BMW was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.

Police did not provide additional information.

Dozens gathered to remember the victims on Sunday night.
