3 Baltimore Schools Closed Due To Water Main Break

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Three Baltimore schools will be closed Friday due to a water main break.

School officials say Gwynns Falls Elementary, ConneXions School for the Arts and Maryland Academy of Technology and Health Sciences won't be open Friday after a broken water main in northwest Baltimore.

The Department of Public Works says the break happened Wednesday night.

Department of Public Works spokesman Jeff Raymond says crews were working to drain thousands of gallons of water from the

Gwynns Falls Parkway's 36-inch water main so they could assess and repair the damage.

Officials say additional pumps were brought in to speed up the process. Nearby homes weren't expected to be affected.

Baltimore City Schools tweeted the closures Thursday night.
