2nd Girl Charged In Clown Threats to Maryland Schools

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- The Washington County Sheriff's Office is charging a second teenage girl in connection with online threats to several public schools in the Hagerstown area.

Spokeswoman Carly Hose said in a statement Thursday that the 15-year-old is a student at Williamsport High School, one of the targeted schools. She is charged with disturbing school operations, attempted disruption of school operations, and obstructing and hindering an investigation.

Hose says the girl made the threats using a Facebook account that identified her as a clown. Police nationwide have been dealing with similar hoaxes involving threats or reports of violence by people dressed as clowns.

Hose says the girl posted the threats Monday, one day after investigators say a 16-year-old girl from Westminster made similar threats while also posing online as a clown.
